Recovery is Essential for progress.<\/u><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 I know that many firefighters, emts and paramedics like to challenge themselves during a workout but its the ability to recover afterwards that leads to a greater results.\u00a0\u00a0Did you know&#8230;your body changes after a workout, when your body rests\u00a0 &#8211; not during.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><a style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/firerescuefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/DSC00065.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/firerescuefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/DSC00065-300x225.jpg?resize=200%2C150\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Taking the time to rest between strength workouts\u00a0 (or after a tough shift)\u00a0is when your body begins the repair and recovery process &#8211; increasing lean muscle &#8211; making you stronger and able to do more come the next workout.\u00a0 Recovery can be accelerated by choosing a good post\u00a0 workout shake (like <a href=\"http:\/\/zamzowfitness.getprograde.com\/pre-and-post-workout-drink.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prograde Workout<\/a>) and taking the time to stretch and foam roll (<a href=\"http:\/\/firerescuefitness.com\/foam-rolling-for-better-fitness\/\" target=\"_blank\">click here it to see\u00a0my blog on foam rolling<\/a>)\u00a0major muscle groups.\u00a0 Skipping recovery will not only diminish fitness results, but will also lead to burn out and over-training injuries.\u00a0\u00a0 As a fire rescue athlete you must take time to recover.<\/div>\n<p>and going right along with the previous tip&#8230;&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong><u>Tip#2. More is NOT Better &#8211; Better is Better.<\/u><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 The workouts\u00a0that I create <a href=\"http:\/\/firerescuefitness.com\/ultimate-fire-athlete-workout\/\" target=\"_blank\">(like those in the FRF Ultimate Fire Rescue Athlete Workout Program) <\/a>are short, yet effective strength based programs that challenge your entire body.\u00a0 Because these workouts take less than 50\u00a0minutes, some fire rescue athletes are\u00a0skeptical that they will be effective, and will sometimes try to add exercises or even double up on workouts.\u00a0Remember, intensity is the key to making good fitness gains.\u00a0 Doing more will only delay or prevent results.\u00a0\u00a0Trying to do more will diminish the intensity &#8211; hence, diminish results.\u00a0\u00a0 My advice to the fire rescue athlete is that the best results are achieved when you get your body to work FOR you rather than always having to work your body.\u00a0 Besides&#8230;your workouts should leave you feeling ENERGIZED not Exhausted.<\/p>\n<table style=\"float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><a style=\"clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/firerescuefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/motivation-to-workout-2-315x315.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" height=\"315\" width=\"315\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/firerescuefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/motivation-to-workout-2-315x315.jpg?resize=315%2C315\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">I thought this was fitting&#8230;.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>As busy fire rescue athletes there are plenty of\u00a0other factors that lend to exhaustion &#8211; but your workouts should NOT be one of them.\u00a0 Focus on the quality of your strength based workouts &#8211; increase the challenge and intensity within the workout by setting personal records.<br \/>\nOne bonus tip&#8230;.log your workouts.\u00a0 Those that created and followed workout logs are more successful.<\/p>\n<p>Keep these\u00a0two workout tips in mind as you follow through with your plan to get and stay &#8220;fit for duty.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Stay Safe and Healthy,<br \/>\nAaron Zamzow<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today I wanted to give you some great workout tips.\u00a0 Over my years of training clients and athletes I&#8217;ve learned two very important\u00a0fitness tips that will help you see and feel the best results.
