{"id":4131,"date":"2018-02-19T18:26:39","date_gmt":"2018-02-19T18:26:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/firerescuefitness.com\/?p=4131"},"modified":"2020-02-20T04:06:46","modified_gmt":"2020-02-20T04:06:46","slug":"stay-fit-for-fire-and-for-life-workout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/firerescuefitness.com\/2018\/02\/stay-fit-for-fire-and-for-life-workout\/","title":{"rendered":"Stay Fit for Fire (and for Life) by doing these 3 things&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lets face it, plateaus happen.\u00a0 There are certain days, months and weeks that you don&#8217;t feel like you are making any fitness progress.\u00a0 Maybe you just took a vacation or had a rough shift and just don&#8217;t want to workout.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0It doesn&#8217;t matter if you are a career firefighter, volunteer firefighter, an EMT or even a professional football player.\u00a0 We have all been there.\u00a0 Heck, I&#8217;ve been there too.<\/p>\n<p>And, when you hit a fitness plateau you start to search for motivation and for information.\u00a0 Unfortunately in this day and age, it seems like fitness information is coming from every angle.\u00a0 The so-called experts tell us that we need to &#8220;do yoga, do crossfit, do low intensity, do high intensity, do weights, don&#8217;t do weights, eat this, don&#8217;t eat that.&#8221;\u00a0 It can get to be very frustrating and in some cases overwhelming.<\/p>\n<p>My goal with FRF is to sift through all the so-called research and experts predictions to give you solid resources that will get you fit for duty and fit for life.\u00a0 Today,\u00a0 I want to give you 3 (actually I threw in a bonus 4th) things you can do to stay fit in and out of the firehouse.\u00a0 These are very easy tasks and will help you get and keep your fitness on-track.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GeEEhRmEYKU?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Here are the things you can do to break through any plateau and stay\/ get on-track with your fitness.\u00a0 I encourage you to do them everyday, especially if you have been struggling.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>Stay hydrated<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span> Water is the source of energy, it helps in all metabolic processes and can decrease your chances of sudden cardiac arrest and stroke.\u00a0 Stay hydrated can also help boost performance.\u00a0 Try to drink 1\/2 your body-weight in ounces of water a day!<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; font-size: 20px;\"><strong>Stay Mobile.\u00a0<\/strong> <\/span>Try to do some stretching, foam rolling or even yoga every shift.\u00a0 The better you move, the better you perform.\u00a0 Mobility exercises are easy to do and don&#8217;t require a lot of time or space.\u00a0 Personally, I like to foam roll a couple of times during each shift.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;
