And Start Training for Optimal Firefighter Fitness&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yes you read that correctly!<\/p>\n<p>Before I worked as a firefighter, I was a trainer in both large and small health clubs. \u00a0During that time I would see a lot of people exercising consistently and with good intensity but only make a limited amount of fitness progress. \u00a0Why? Because we are all creatures of habit in the gym and out. \u00a0These &#8220;snail paced progress&#8221; gym goers were all doing the same thing&#8230; exercising, not training. \u00a0And yes,\u00a0their\u00a0is a difference.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What is Exercising?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Exercise&#8230; is a physical activity performed for the effect it produces today &#8212; right now. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Each workout is performed for the purpose of producing a stress that satisfies the immediate needs of the exerciser: burning some calories, \u201cblow off steam,\u201d \u00a0relieve mental stress, pump up the biceps, etc. \u00a0Exercise may well involve doing exactly the same thing every time you do it, as long as it accomplishes the task of making you feel like you to want to feel while you&#8217;re doing it. \u00a0Most of the people in gyms and firehouses do this everyday&#8230; they exercise. \u00a0Not that there is anything wrong with it but it is a very <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">&#8220;short-sided&#8221;<\/span><\/strong> approach to fitness.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Are You Training?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1746\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/firerescuefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/FRF-Calendar-Demo.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1746\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1746\" class=\"wp-image-1746 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/firerescuefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/FRF-Calendar-Demo-300x159.png?resize=300%2C159\" alt=\"FRF Calendar Demo\" width=\"300\" height=\"159\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1746\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Have a Plan&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Now, when I was working with athletes (both pro and amateur) we just weren&#8217;t exercising, we had a definitive performance or &#8220;training&#8221; objective. \u00a0For athletes (like firefighters, emts, and medics) training is a necessity or at least should be. \u00a0Training is physical activity performed for the purpose of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">satisfying a long-term performance goal.<\/span>\u00a0 Training involves along term approach to fitness where one workout builds on the next, all leading to a long-term goal. \u00a0Athletes try to get bigger, stronger, leaner, faster and use a well-planned training workout program to achieve these goals.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Are you Training or Exercising?<\/span> \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a fire rescue\u00a0athlete\u00a0you need to approach your fitness like an athlete and therefore think about how you can improve\u00a0your performance (get leaner, stronger, faster) on the fire and rescue scene. \u00a0Would you agree with that statement?<\/p>\n<p>Your right, it is a rhetorical question&#8230; Since we as fire rescue athletes should be trying to improve performance then it can be assumed that &#8220;training&#8221; is the best way to do this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/firerescuefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/these-athletes-dont-1.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2292\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2292 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/firerescuefitness.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/these-athletes-dont-1-233x300.jpg?resize=233%2C300\" alt=\"these athletes don't\" width=\"233\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As we jump into the fall, my challenge to you is simple. \u00a0Take a long-term approach to your fitness goals. \u00a0Don&#8217;t just workout for the sake of it (although sometimes that is alright to do) but <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">have a plan<\/span><\/em> as to why your working out and how that workout will help you do your job (and accomplish your fitness goal). \u00a0I see this all the time&#8211;people wondering around the gym or firehouse performing random workouts. \u00a0Why?<\/p>\n<p>Stop wasting the time and energy&#8211; \u00a0you have a purpose to workout&#8230;your job, your crew, your family. \u00a0Train like a life depends on it&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Plan your workouts and plan your rest then plan for success!<\/p>\n<p>Stay safe and GET FRF!<\/p>\n<p>Aaron Zamzow<\/p>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"http:\/\/firerescuefitness.com\/ultimate-fire-athlete-workout\/\">Start Training with the FRF Ultimate Fire Athlete Workout Program. \u00a0This comprehensive 12-week workout is trusted by thousands of fire rescue athletes and will get you strong, lean and &#8220;fit 4 duty.&#8221; \u00a0Click Here&#8230;\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/h1>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yes you read that correctly!
