Great input. I have had a lot of people message and comment. The Keto diet may work for some but for us in the fire service we need to have the fuel when needed. Good stuff.

This would be a bad combo with a limited oxygen supply in an SCBA. Not to mention the dehydration inherent to strict keto…not a good situation in a high heat environment.

I am often aked about this diet and others of course. I have found the same results in my clients. Most can not follow it and then end up gaining even more wieght. Many have reported what you reported, fatige being the biggest complaint, too much planning like you said and not everyone can process that much fat either. It’s just too strict to follow for an ongoing lifestyle change. I eat as clean as I can, and splurge on occation. Sugar is poison plain and simple. Thanks for posting, it will help allot of people rethink, yet another diet plan. Kim 🙂

I think a key point, with respect to ketosis, is that the effectiveness of the diet is reduced unless you can stay in ketosis. Many other diets are effective by cycling calories, macronutrients, etc, but in order to reap the (long term) benefits of a ketogenic diet, you have to get into ketosis and then remain there.
